Daylight savings time must mean Spring is just around the corner. No one could be more excited to hear the sound of birds, the flow of the creek and the change in temperature. It’s been a long winter here at Spoon’s Rock Creek Ranch. Located at over 5000 feet in the Rocky Mountains we have seen our share of cold temperatures and snow this winter. We kicked off calving season with the temperature hanging around 39 below zero – yup, that’s below. It was followed by about 3 feet of snow, and more snow. Seems each morning I wake to at least a few inches of fresh white snow.
The fresh snow doesn’t seems to stay long, daytime temperatures are up to the high 30’s now – above zero. Yesterday I heard a loud noise & actually saw the Middle Fork of Rock Creek starting to loosen up a bit. It will be fishing season before you know it!! Hiding out there under the ice are brown trout, cutthroats & rainbows that will be hungry to chase the fly at the end of your line.
Openings are starting to fill for this summer so book the Cabin or Pintlar View for your vacation rental now. Book online or call to make your reservations to stay with us this summer. I’m sure a little more snow melts with each booking!!!
